Medications can be managed when necessary, but primarily as a complement to our functional and integrative medicine services. Our approach focuses on helping patients, who are interested in a non-pharmacological healthcare model and who do not require ongoing medication management. Please note that we do not prescribe stimulants, benzodiazepines, or other controlled substances. Our goal is to work with patients to address the root causes of their health issues and promote wellness through holistic, natural treatments whenever possible.
My journey into functional medicine began as a response to enduring long-term health challenges, after decades of struggling with chronic sinus infections, severe allergies, asthma, chronic fatigue, and a reliance on antibiotics and steroids, alongside repeated sinus surgeries. Despite following conventional protocols and treatments, there was no lasting relief; in fact, my health continued to steadily decline. This lack of progress inspired my exploration of alternative, integrative approaches to health and wellness, leading to the discovery of functional medicine. Its emphasis on uncovering and addressing the root causes of disease deeply resonated with me and gave me hope for true recovery.
After extensive research and study of this care model, I applied its principles to my own health journey, and that resulted in life-changing outcomes. Dependence on antibiotics, steroids, inhalers, antihistamines, and surgeries was overcome, along with chronic fatigue. For the first time in decades, I felt truly well — my health was restored. This profound transformation — achieved after years of minimal or no improvement through conventional methods — fueled my commitment to help others achieve sustainable health and wellness through functional medicine and deepened my passion for guiding my patients on their own transformative healing journeys.
National labs, such as LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics, accept various types of health insurance plans. However, specialty tests are not covered by health insurance.
Manheim Functional Wellness, LLC does not provide primary or acute care services, such as regular in-person screenings, routine physical exams, sick visits, or emergency care. While Dr. Manheim would be happy to be an integral part of your healthcare team, she recommends maintaining a relationship with a primary care practitioner, who can handle these aspects of your care. She can work alongside your primary care practitioner to support your overall health and wellness, focusing on personalized, holistic treatment plans.
The cost of a consultation depends on whether it is an initial or follow-up appointment, as well as on the duration of the appointment. To receive specific pricing information, please call or email us.
Before your initial appointment, you will need to read, complete, and sign a number of forms. These forms will be shared electronically via a HIPAA-compliant platform. They will need to be fully filled out and returned at least one week prior to your initial appointment. Please note that these forms are important and may require a few hours to be fully completed.
Most insurance plans do not fully cover functional and wellness appointments. As a result, we do not accept insurance and do not provide insurance billing services or interact with any health insurance companies, whether private or federal. However, you can submit your Superbill to your health insurance company for reimbursement. Many patients also choose to use their Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) or Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). For non-Medicare patients, we will provide you with a Superbill after each appointment. This detailed statement outlines the services rendered and can be submitted (by you) to your private health insurance provider for potential reimbursement. However, please note that submission of a Superbill does not guarantee reimbursement. For Medicare patients, we can provide a Fee for Service receipt upon request. While this receipt can be used for your personal records, it cannot be submitted to Medicare for reimbursement.
